Jewellery making has been a lifelong practice of Kimberley’s. Her work utilizes classic components and techniques worked in a contemporary manner. The majority of her pieces are inspired by the art of other cultures. She may use, for example, antique beads from the Turkoman of northern Afghanistan strung with Venetian beads traded into Africa in the late 19th century. Kimberley’s beadwork and small beaded sculptures take their inspiration, in part, from Native North American and African beadworkers.
Her work has been seen in numerous bead and jewellery related publications over the past ten years. This includes a recent cover Profile in ‘Step by Step Beads’ and a number of pieces in the recently released ‘The Beader’s Color Palette’.
The jewellery Kimberley creates is comprised of different styles worked individually or in combination. The main focus being beadwork, semi-precious stones and vintage beads of silver and glass.
Through the utilization of these components she creates an international souk of design.
